COVID-19 & the role of youth in cities
In light of the current pandemic and its impact on cities, this Urban Thinkers Campus webinar, organized by World Vision International featuring Plan International, Marginal, Coletivo, and youth from Brazil, Bangladesh and Peru, is proposed to shed the light on a specific segment of the urban population - youth - and explore how different organizations are engaging youth in the prevention, response and recovery processes in cities.

The virtual campus will focus on best practices in youth engagement and share a multi country and multi organizational perspective on the topic.

The campus will also bring in the lens of intersectionality in gender, age, class among others factors to coalesce with the role of youth in building city resilience. Youth are powerful change agents and it is essential to mentor and harness their potential towards positive channels by recognising their differential needs and dialoguing and engaging with them adequately.

While the pandemic has exposed the lack of preparedness of our state mechanisms, it is even more imperative that inequalities in cities must be seen against the lenses of gender, age, class and other factors.
